Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today i.e. 10th February 2023 presented his last budget as he holds the portfolio of finance minister as well. This is the last budget for the Congress-led Gehlot government before assembly polls in the state and as expected, the chief minister came out with a populist budget with a focus on youth, the unemployed and women.

Below are the main highlights of Rajasthan Budget 2023-24:

  1. 100 units per month of electricity to be provided free of charge to domestic consumers as compared to 50 units per month earlier.
  2. Free electricity to farmers consuming less than 2,000 units per month.
  3. Government to give electric free two-wheelers to girl students
  4. No new taxes announced in Rajasthan Budget
  5. Inflation relief package of Rs 19,000 crore in the state’s Budget for 2023-24 to provide relief to the masses from rising prices. The package includes free food packets every month to poor families,
  6. Gehlot announced the enactment of the Gig Workers Welfare Act, the establishment of a board and a welfare fund of Rs 200 crore in his government’s Budget for 2023-24.
  7. Old pension scheme for personnel of various boards, corporations announced. Benefits of the scheme will be granted to personnel of boards, corporations, academies and universities.
  8. No new taxes were announced in this year’s budget.
  9. No multiple fees to be charged and one-time registration to appear in competitive exams
  10. Medical cover under the Chiranjeevi Health Insurance scheme has been increased to Rs 25 lakh per family per year from Rs 10 lakh
  11. No new taxes announced in Rajasthan Budget
  12. Free education for all students till Class 12th under RTE
  13. Establishment of APJ Abdul Kalam Institute of Biotechnology in Jaipur at a cost of Rs 300 crores.
  14. 30 thousand sweepers will be recruited in Rajasthan.
  15. 11 lakh farmers to get free electricity up to 2000 units.
  16. Women to pay only half the fare in state roadways buses.
